Student-athletes cross sports to become Bearcat couples

‘Cat couples: Baseball player Jamie Boyer and volleyball player Anne Crocus

They were a “power couple” in more ways than one. He was one of the greatest home run hitters in Binghamton baseball program history. She was one of the most dominant middle hitters in Binghamton’s volleyball history. Both stood six-feet tall with a large presence. Both were all-conference student-athletes. And both lived on campus in College-in-the-Woods.

She set ‘em up in her athletic realm. He mowed ‘em down in his. Together they were one of the first Bearcat couples, having come to campus right after Binghamton University changed its athletics nickname from Colonials to Bearcats.

In August 2017, several dozen members of the Binghamton track & field program were in the same place at one time. Normally, these Bearcat student-athletes would either be together at a practice or a meet. This time, however, the occasion was much different—and more special.
